I can't believe how fast the time goes by.... I remember the day he was born so vividly! I just used a fun font to stamp the outside. I just wanted to be a colorful card that wasn't too little boy-ish! Thanks for looking!

I inked the negative side of the folder with brown ink so when pressed the letters popped and remained white. I just used some scrap green paper for some color and added some washi tape for interest! Thanks for visiting!

Thanks for looking
I made this card for a friend at work who is expecting their 2nd little boy very soon! Since this is her 2nd a lot of us at work did a diaper shower! She was on vacation last Thursday and Friday so while she was out we started to line a wall in her office with diapers. There is also a picture below of the stack of diapers that was collected. I am sure there were more added to the pile! This card was made using Wild Card Cricut Cartridge. And a Cuttlebug embossing folder with the little carriage on it. The inside says congratulations on your bundle of boy!!! Thank you for looking!

I made this card for a birthday in the family coming up. Actually now since I am posting this a week and a half later... the Birthday has passed! I didn't use any cricut cuts just scraps of paper and bakers twine. I love to colors and layers on this card! Thanks for lunch looking!

With the help of my 4 brothers and their wives of sending me recent pictures of all of their children, I was able to assemble this little book for "Mamaw," as she is lovingly referred to and it was from all ten of her grandchildren for Mother's Day!

Since there are 10 Grandchildren, I simply titled the Brag Book "10." I made a collage of pictures for each page for each family. Then embellished and went crazy with baker's twine, chipboard cut outs, stickers/decals, stamps, and of course - BUTTONS! I also added a few non-page elements that don't include pictures but added interest instead. I used plain chipboard for the front and back cover and covered it with paper, and bound it with my Cinch, and then a green ribbon built into the front and back cover to tie it closed.

So here is my project... Starting from the cover! All of the pictures I took with my phone, so I hope they look alright...
I am a lover of "hoodies." Seriously, there is nothing better than a cool crisp day and the warming hug of one's favorite hoodie. I have my favorite hoodies, my go-to's. I am glad that I sharing that love with my little girl. We are transitioning from spring to summer and there are still some cooler nights to be had before we get completely into that summer heat. Thank goodness!!!

My hubby and I often hang out on the back porch in the evenings after dinner. We sometimes even dine al fresco and baby girl does sometimes too! On those nights we both wear our hoodies. Hers is a lot smaller and a bit more colorful than mine, but here they are hanging on the same hook. When I put them up there, together, it was a "that is so cool" moment.

As a first time Mama, I am learning things as my daughter and I move along in this wonderful journey. We are at the point where everything, and I mean, EVERYTHING that is picked up goes straight into her mouth. I read to her everyday, and have given her some of those hard books that have 5 or 6 pages in them, and they are the hard cardboard-y kind of books and she can't open the pages yet, etc... she's only 6 months, afterall. (A very merry half Birthday to Joanna Rose today!)

So, as a shower gift, we received a book of "Baby Faces" full of facial expressions and bright, vibrant colors. The pictures are simple, but she is so intrigued by them. She talks to the faces, and tries to grab the bow she sees in a girls' hair, but anyway, this book is amazing! It is indeed indestructable! It is a wonderful that she can have a book that she can chew on, crumple up, and just be a baby with! I love it! I wish we had some more of these! Although it would just be from boredom eventually, because there is no way she can tear this book apart!

If you are looking for a great shower gift, birthday present, or anything like that, I highly recommend these for the little ones in your life.

Check them out here:

http://www.peapods.com/browse.cfm/indestructibles-baby-proof-books-baby-faces/4,2583.html

And they have more titles than just ehe baby Faces... I have to say this is one great way to introduce reading! I hope she loves to read. Afterall, I could hand her Harry Potter, and expect miracles, but Indectructibles are better for right now, don't you think?

Easter weekend was VERY busy around our neck of the woods! On Saturday, my family came over to the house, which means Saturday morning was hands full of lysol, paper towels, windex, and any other cleaning product. I usually clean the house every Saturday morning. It's my routine. But for some reason I felt there was more pressure as the family was headed over and there was a deadline! Normally my home is dusted, vacuumed, mopped, sheets washed, I wash down cabinet doors, etc... and I get it done by about 10 am. But with a "I want this house to be perfect for company", I even washed baseboards. Yes, I have OCD. :o)

So, we had a feast of ham, green beans, macaroni and cheese, deviled eggs (thanks Kate and John!) and two desserts consisting of Chess bars (thanks Mama!) and Indoor s'mores (Thanks Kevin and Leslie)! It was scrumptious! At least I thought so! There was a little Easter egg hunt, and the weather eas perfect, not too warm, not too cold! Here are some pictures from that day I want to share!
Day 2 of Easter Weekend - AKA Easter Sunday.

Wow - did I want to get out of bed in the morning? Ummm... NO! I was still exhausted! Ha! We went to my in-laws house on Easter Sunday. Rose wore her Easter Dress. I baked a cake, made some frosting, and of course there were sprinkles... however in the rush of getting evertything baked and cleaned up and back to normal from the day before, I failed to photograph that.

At my husband's parents' house, there was a feast including Ham, Fried Chicken, baked beans, potato salad, more deviled eggs and pasta salad. There was a TON of food! But, we had a good time! There was an Easter egg hunt, but Rose was napping! Here are some rcorded moments of that day...
I used my Gypsy and Plantin Schoolbook to weld the circle inside the rectangle to the one on the left. The other one on the right, I didn't use any Cricut. The sentiment is embossed in white. The blue frame on the left is popped, as well as the tan "thank you" square on the card on the right.
Ever since October 22, when our little Rose came into our world and even during the long crazy birthing process, I kept thinking “remember this.”

As I would gaze at her in the hospital – remember this.

As I saw my husband talk to her for the first time, and stare at her – remember this.

The look on the family member’s faces, when they came into recovery and saw her for the first time – remember this.

The first time I nursed her.

The first night with her – I admit, I slept with her on my chest.

The ride home from the hospital, I cried the whole way.

Those eyes as they were beginning to focus on things.

The first time she looked at me.

Her first bath – how terrified I was I would hurt her!

Her umbilical cord fell off and she had a belly button.

The first smile, first sounds she made in an attempt to talk, first time she reached for something and grabbed it successfully.

The first night she slept all the way through and me waking up terrified that something happened. She slept all night = Mama slept all night.

The visit to her doctor to only realize I was starving her, and wasn’t producing milk. I was devastated.

Her first diaper rash was a real doozie. I remember crying with her.

All of these sad moments that I experienced with her, especially the not being able to nurse her as I so desperately wanted to do, I need to remember. I need to remember the emotional pain I felt as a mother, and the disappointment I felt, because those moments contain true, raw, honest human emotion. People always say you should forget the bad. But the bad is what makes the good that much better. The bad happens in life. And looking back, it wasn’t necessarily bad. I can’t put it into words at the moment. I am still trying to process some parts of the experience. I am coming to terms with some of the bad, and completely and utterly overjoyed with the good. All of it, as a whole, is good.

My Mama raised us with home-cooked meals just about every night! I appreciated the fact that she did that for us. I hope to do the same for my daughter, my family. All the while, teaching her the little tricks my Mama taught me. I have been wanting to make something different. I was tired of making, cooking, eating the same old things! Do you ever get that way? We all have the "go-to's" - the dinners you always have everything you need in house, and can usually whip up pretty quickly. For us, it's Mexican. We always have either chips, tortillas, or taco shells around, ground beef, or chicken, cheese, salsa, sour cream, beans (either black or refried - love black beans!) and rice. It's an easy meal for a weeknight!

On a Sunday afternoon I had an idea! I had everything I needed to make a homemade chicken pot pie. From scratch. Crust and all. So I made the filling with 2 packages of frozen vegetables, made some chicken broth, cubed and grilled the chicken, made the pie crust, etc... I had decided after I added everythi9ng together in one skillet that it was enough for TWO chicken pot pies. So, I made two! And for extra eye candy, I added a pie bird to the top. They turned out amazing! I had never made one before, EVER! The texture and consistancy was incredible, and it didn't run everywhere when we cut into it. It held up so well!

This is my first food entry! Hopefully of many more to come!

So, leave a comment of what your family's "go-to" meal is. Do you ever get tired of it? If so - try something different! I am SO glad I did!

Thank you for looking!
My husband was out and it was just Rose, the furbabies and I at home. I thought that it was too beautiful to stay inside all day, so I packed up baby girl and we went for a walk. A pretty long walk. She slept most of the time, but when she was awake, she was oohing and ahhing, talking up a storm looking around and taking in the sights. Then she was just was just watching me. I had to take a picture. She is amazing. Those eyes just jump out at me. My sweet little Rose. She is now almost 5 months old - where has the time gone?

This is also a recent project I made. It's an 8x8 Journal, filled with lined paper. The buttons were hand stitched into the paper, and then some knots tied with embroiddary floss to add a little fun! I love this journal! Trying to decide if I should keep it for myself or not.
Long time no see!?! It’s been over a year since I last posted. I know I could offer every reason in the book as to why I haven’t posted. I am sure all of my followers are gone, and that is fine. Maybe some of you stuck around, and for that I am eternally grateful. I am back. However things have forever changed in my world, but for the better. I am still creating, and have been, but just haven’t posted anything or even taken pictures of anything. I am regretting that at the moment, but I know there will be many more things to post.

So at the beginning of last year I turned 30. I must admit, I was NOT happy about the milestone Birthday. So many things that I said I wanted to accomplish by the time I was 30. The list was long and daunting mentally at times. Perhaps out of reach? Maybe? Sometimes I felt like I was setting goals and aspiring to be more than what I could actually accomplish in life. I was a big dreamer. I knew I was. In being a big dreamer there are more opportunities for disappointment. I lived a majority of my life disappointed. Disappointed in choices I had made, and things I did, and even things I didn’t do. I was never one to take chances, and that has hurt me in the long run. So, yeah, am I getting all psychological now? Yes, and in a moment you will know why I am writing all of this. There is a reason for the background. My creativity was an outlet. It was my therapy. My happy place. Now my whole world is my happy place.

Along with this turning 30 funk, I had no motivation, no inspiration, and no want/need to create. I went MONTHS without setting foot in my craft room. I didn’t miss it. I didn’t know at the time, but something was completely different with me, and might have been the reason that I didn’t create anything with paper.

I was creating something else. I was pregnant.

I am not going into personal details. I am not going to get into the exact description of things. But I will say this. I didn’t know I was pregnant. I didn’t have any symptoms until July. On July 27th, I took a home pregnancy test and the results were positive. On August 8th, the doctor confirmed I was pregnant, and was due October 31st. Yes, due October 31st. That was 3 months away. I was shocked, terrified, scared, worried… excited, thrilled, happy, crying, and holey moley we have A LOT to do!!!!

I had never wanted children. My husband did. I was worried about if I would be a good mother or not. I was worried about financially supporting a child. I was worried about everything! I wasn’t always that way. When I was little, and even in high school I said I wanted 4 kids! But then the reality of adulthood sets in, and maybe… well… things aren’t always what they seem. Looking back now, I will be honest, I don’t know if I truly never wanted kids, or if I talked/worried myself out of wanting them. But God had a different plan in mind than I did. I am glad He did.

So, was pregnancy the reason I didn’t feel creative? I don’t know. But I do know one thing; my creative juices are flowing like crazy, and now I don’t have the time to create what I want! But that is ok. For, I am abundantly happy, and never knew the reason why I was so unhappy was because I had not been a mother.

Friday, October 19th, I receive a phone call from my doctor. He tells me the results of a test I had taken the previous day, and recommends that I go to the hospital on Sunday evening to start induction. I finish packing my bag (which I had not finished), and try to not think too much about what is getting ready to happen. Not the arrival of little one by any means, but the mere thought of childbirth, well, it scared the crud out of me to be honest. Also due to the results of my test there was a 50/50 chance that I might have to have a c-section. Needless to say, I was terrified.

I will make a long story short. I began induction around 8pm on Sunday evening. At 2am on Monday I began actively having contractions. I held out until 1pm on Monday for the epidural (I was very proud of that!). After waiting all day, at 10:30 that evening, they decided that baby needed to come out. I was going to have a c-section.

At that moment I was scared. I was confused. I was wondering why it had to happen this way. But ultimately, I knew I wanted my baby, our baby, to be safe and healthy. I knew that it wasn’t about me. It was about this baby that we were bringing into the world. It was time to meet the little guy or girl. We didn’t know what the gender of our baby was prior to birth, so that we could have the ultimate surprise at the end! I do remember throughout the day hearing cries of babies down the hall, and getting upset that our baby didn’t wanting to come out into this world yet. I longed to meet the little one, and wondering if I did something wrong. I guess that goes along with being a mother, and I was about to become one.

I remember the frenzy of nurses swarming around me, and it all happened so quickly! I remember my husband, who never left my side that whole time reassuring me that everything would be fine. I remember him looking at me teary eyed knowing I was scared, and yet trying to be brave himself. I remember my Mama, who had been in the hospital room all day with us, was scared, but yet trying to be brave. I remember her lips quivering when she gave me a kiss before they wheeled me off to surgery. I remember my husbands’ lips doing the same. I remember telling myself that this was it, and that I had to be brave and calm, and all would be well. I remember watching my husband put on scrubs, and a surgical mask, and that’s when it hit me. I began shaking. I remember thinking – don’t show your fear. You can do this. You can do this for your baby. I get to meet my child. I get to meet this little person that has been kicking me and had the hiccups (a lot). I get to witness a miracle.

As they were wheeling me down the hallways past the rooms where every other woman’s baby came into this world already, I began to panic. I was never so scared as I was during those moments. When I saw the operating room, I closed my eyes, I said an Our Father, followed by a Hail Mary. Then I remember asking my Daddy, who died when I was 6, to give me some of his strength. I was freezing cold, shaking profusely. They laid a warm blanket across my chest. I remember asking where my husband was, for he was not in the room with me yet. He was waiting outside per his orders. I needed him there with me. He was my solid rock that I needed. I needed to gaze into his eyes to know that everything was going to be ok. I remember feeling sick. I remember… “are we ready? OK we are starting.” Dear God, Please be with me.

I don’t remember much of what was next. I told my husband that he needed to talk to me. He asked about what, and I said “anything.” The two doctors were talking about a trip to Nashville. You are cutting me open and you are talking about Nashville!?!? Since it was after hours, my doctor wasn’t performing the c-section, his associate was. I remember hearing a suction noise, and then he said “we have a baby!” My husband and I looked at each other, and I said “what is it?” Then there was a pause, “it’s definitely a girl! Happy Birthday! Congratulations!” Then I heard a sound that I will never forget. It was the sound of my new daughter crying for the first time. She made her first mark on the world, and it was the sweetest sound my ears ever heard. I have a daughter. I have become a mother.

“Look to your left, Mom, and you will see your new daughter.” She was wiggling, and crying, pink in color. She was perfect. She was mine. She was ours. She was healthy. She was here. My heart was full.

I had one sheet of vellum... one, and you know how us crafters are... I am going to save this one sheet for something special... so this what that one project! My husbands friend and his fiance were married last weekend. My husband was in their wedding, and I needed to make a card for the newlyweds! I decided to try something new, and while it's not perfect, I think it turned out alright! :o)

The card base is cut from Wrap It up. I cut the card base twice so I would have two layers of the front image, so that I could make a sandich out of the image. I folded the vellum in half and in between the halves, I adhered (barely) the champagne layer of the cut. That's tricky, because vellum shows everything doesn't it? Once I adhered the vellum to the backside of the card image, I used my extra cut of the card and put it on it inside of the card so to hide the vellum and make it look like a vellum window card. The congratulations was cut in red from the same cartridge, because their colors were red and white. Added a bit of ribbon to the fold and done! This was new for me and I like the way it turned out! I hope my explanation wasn't too confusing. The front of the card is basically a giant sandwich, with four layers, 5 if you include the champagne layer.

Thank you for looking! I hope you enjoy and as always, thank you for taking the time to look!
For Another Challenge!I had an absolute BLAST making this card... seriously! No sarcasm at all!

St. Patrick's Day is my favorite holiday. I know I am pretty early in the season to be posting this, but I just had to. So I was thinking to myself: "Self, what are you going to make for the latest challenge over at the Fantabuolous Cricut Blog?" Link Here: http://fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2012-02-21T07:11:00-07:00

I knew it was a matter of time before I had to make Patty's Day cards, and already had designed the cut outs on my Gypsy as far as size go for the Leprechaun off of the Simply Charmed Cartridge. Then, like a bolt of lightening - it hit me! "Self, instead of cutting out the rainbow cut and pot o gold, why don't you make the rainbow out of ribbon?!?!" The ribbon counts as a fancy trim! I think it does at least, and I am not a lacey ind of girl, so ribbon it is! So, that's what I did! I made two different versions, one landscape and one portrait, but I like the portrait one better!

Thank you for looking!
Have a great day!
Link here: http://craftspotbykimberly.blogspot.com/2012/02/monday-challenge-45-birthday-shape.html

For this card, I wanted to think outside the box! A shaped birthday card... my mind went to shaped cupcakes, cakes, balloons, party hats, etc... So instead, I went to a Cartridge that I wouldn't normally use when thinking of a Birthday card, and decided to use one of those images. The cartridge is my Christmas Cartridge on my Gypsy. I used the Teddy Bear cut to make a shaped Birthday card for a little boy. I used some paper that I have had around forever which looks like an old potato sack? And some basic Kraft Paper for the card base. I welded the shadow cut of the Teddy bear together to make the basic shape and then cut the layers of the bear. The sentiment is from two cartridges: Sweet Treats and the Cindy Lou font for the word "baby." I added a blue button for his eye. Also, for a little interest I pop-dotted the areas just beside the cut lines of the bear so that some of those features would have a bit more dimension, and adhered the rest of the bear flat.

I hope this works for the challenge this week, and it isn't the typical cartridge I would use for a Birthday card, so I am extra proud of myself for not going to my "obvious" carts!

Thank you for looking!
So this was the design I came up with. All the cuts are from DoodleCharms, except the Thank You which is from Wild Card. That's my favorite "Thank You" sentiment - I haven't found another one I like as much as that one! That is why I always use that one!

Thansk for looking!

So the first one is made without any Cricut, just quilling! Simple quilling, but fun to do! I saw this adea somewhere, but don't remember where. So my apologies if I am completely scraplifting someone else's ideas! But I saw it a while ago and thought I would try to create my own! I made candies! I made quilled candies! I hand cut the piece that the sentiment is on, and hand wrote the sentiment as well and added the quilled heart to it as well. And added some ribbon. Hope you like it!

For the sedonc card, I decided to a small Cuttlebug folder that Ihad, okay two - one for the outside, one for the inside. The postage stamp looking image on the front is one, and the inside one is a heart that I cut out the inside and around the outside.
For Another Challenge! This is the Valentine I made for my husband, Drew to go along withthe challenge over at the Fantabulous Cricut Blog, "Fun with Puns." An avid Bass Fisherman, I think he gets a kick out of me making fish-themed cards! For this one, I used Wild Card for the Heart-shaped card, and Simply Charmed for the fish, and fishing rod. I know it totally does NOT look like how a large mouth bass or small mouth bass is shaped, but, I tried to color it as such with my new water pens and ink pads as described in previous post. He said I did a pretty good job on the coloring, so for that I am very proud!

I used a silver gel pen to color in the the little circles on the heart and hand-wrote the sentiment. And instead of using the cut out fishing line that was part of the cuts provided with his image, I used embroiddary floss and string it through the eyelets on the fishing rod. Tricky to do, hard not to rip the eyelets, but it worked! :o) I had to had something "fru-fru" because it is Valentine's Day afterall, so a little ribbon adhered with staples... Fru-Fru, but still kind of manly, with the metal stamples.

Thank you for looking!
The challenge this week is to make something girly. Link up here: http://craftspotbykimberly.blogspot.com/2012/02/monday-challenge-44-girly-girl-projects.html

So a situation came up where I had to make a Girly card, but not an ordinary girly card...
"Angel" is a white Bichon Frise, who belongs to two people I work with... or should I say that they belong to her. A princess to the core, always wearing the cutest outfits, ribbons in her hair, matching collars to her various outfits, getting pampered, continuously loved, and has a love for all things pork. :o) hehe... She has become our works' mascot in a way. Everyone loves her, and loves on her whenever she comes in the building. This past weekend, she has fell ill, and is in the doggy hospital. Still unsure of exactly what is wrong, but she did have to go through a blood transfusion, which, really, isn't good. But, I wanted to make a card for Angel and her owners who need a little love sent their way. I was asked to send puppy prayers yesterday by Angel's dad, and that is exactly what the inside sentiment says, "sending puppy prayers your way." I made this card for her last night, and thought you know what this might qualify for the challenge over at My Craft Spot!!

I hope this qualifies as a girly-girl card, especially when Angel, is completely and totally a girly-girl! The only cart used on this card was Paper Pups, but nonetheless, I think it is perfect! I hope they like it!

Thanks for looking, and please send puppy prayers up for Angel!
I made this card back in January for my nephew Brady's Birthday! He loves football, and I think it is so sweet, that Brady sometimes wears Tom Brady's jersey... it has Brady's name on the back of it, although they are not really Pat's fans I don't think - it's just adorable that he gets a kick out of wearing a Football Jersey with his name on the back! So, in keeping with the fact that he loves football, I decided to use my Wrap It Up Card tag to make him a card. The card front is from wrap it up, and the I cut the tag shadow for the back of the card and used a brad to make it swivel open. Inside the window I welded the sentiment from Sweet Treats and cut the layers of the sentiment. Also on the front, I used a small alphabet stamp from Stampin'Up (just the X's and O's) and VersaMark ink to create the look of football plays around the framp of the card, then added some dash lines to make it look like they were actual plays - does that make sense and look ok? On the inside I just layered some of the same color cardstock, and stamped Happy Birthday on the inside and I didn't take a ouicture of the top, but I wrote "Hope your Birthday is a TOUCHDOWN!" I think it turned out pretty cute!
Thank you for looking!
