Happy Birthday!

I made this card for my Sister in Law Kate!  She is a crafty person as well, and I try so hard to do something that's new for me, or new to hear, meaning I on't know if she's done___ before.  I try to stump her and since she has and uses a Cricut, and since she is into stamping more lately, I wanted to do something different for her Birthday!  So, I tried something new for me, which in turn is also new to her!  And she just called me and said she received the card, so now I can post it!  :o)

No Cricut on this one except for the scallopped edge along the top in which I used Plantin Schoolbook, but I did use a small Birthday Cuttlebug folder that I had of a cupcake and candle.  So, black cardstock, and some patterned grey cardstock, and I used a dot background stamp from BasicGrey (don't remember the actual name of the stamp), and I embossed the stamped image with silver embossing powder.  Then I took a scrap piece of paper, and dredged it with VersaMark Ink all over, then embossed the entire area with silver embossing powder, set it, let it cool, then went back with the versamark ink, and embossed it again, layer by layer, and did this about 6 times.  I then ran it throught he Cuttlebug and then trimmed the paper down to size.  I showed my husband and he said "How did you do that to metal?"  It's not metal, but I was happy he said that because that was the look I was going for!  :o)So, I hope the glare isn't too bad on these pictures and you can see the details pretty well.  I added some pink paper, some silver stitching, pink rick-rack, and a simple blakk piece of ribbon to the front.  On the inside, I embossed a simple "Happy Birthday" stamp in the same silver embossing powder.

Thanks for looking!
Have a great day!
Mary
